Axovant Gene Therapies is a gene therapy company developing potentially transformative treatments for rare childhood diseases (GM1 and GM2 gangliosidosis) and Parkinson’s disease. We are currently accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship position based out of Durham, NC. We are seeking a candidate interested in learning aspects of gene therapy drug development as well as perform rigorous research in a laboratory environment to support the mechanistic characterization of gene therapy candidates. This is a 1-year position with the option to renew.

Primary Responsibilities
  • The postdoctoral fellow will interface with a team of office-based colleagues and be exposed to diverse aspects of gene therapy drug development, including nonclinical studies, viral vector production and analysis, viral vector delivery and compatibility, clinical trial design, and regulatory affairs. The position will require some bench-based studies to support some of these activities.

  • Primarily, the fellow will work directly with the nonclinical team to design and execute studies related to the mechanism of action of gene therapy candidates, focusing on our Parkinson’s disease candidate. The goal of these studies will be to produce quality studies suitable for presentation at scientific meetings and publication.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The ideal candidate should have or is in the process of completing his or her PhD in Cell Biology, Pharmacology, Neuroscience or a relevant scientific discipline. A strong background in molecular biology including gene expression analysis is preferred. Strong analytical and communication skills as well as the ability to fit in well with a team are required.
